Electric Division Manager
Performs advanced professional and technical work in managing the daily operations of the Electric Division. Responsibilities include overseeing project activities, coordinating and implementing emergency response plans, and ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Work is performed under the general direction of the Operations Manager with continuous supervision exercised over division Supervisors and Crew Leaders. This position may assume full management responsibilities for the division in the absence of the Division Manager and Operations Manager.

- Supervises staff by assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training, enforcing policies and procedures, maintaining a safe work environment, and assisting with hiring, discipline, and termination decisions, applying sound managerial principles and supervisory practices.
- Coordinates and manages projects with division supervisors and contractors; provides consultation, attends meetings, visits work sites, maintains records, and prepares reports, utilizing effective project management skills and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems.
- Assists in developing the annual budget and monitors and approves expenditures in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Supports the Power Systems Engineer and consultants by providing study information, assisting with contract negotiations, and contributing to the modernization and maintenance of electric utilities facilities using knowledge of utility infrastructure.
- Coordinates emergency activities and implements emergency response plans, applying conflict resolution skills and emergency coordination practices.
- Provides customer service by resolving complaints professionally and maintaining effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, other City employees, and the general public.
- Conducts audits to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and available, utilizing organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing electric utility operations and division activities.
- Utilizes computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office products and Outage Management Systems, to support division operations and reporting requirements.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Associate's degree or higher in electrical engineering, public utility management, business administration or a related field.Extensive experience in electric utility systems, including significant supervisory or management experience.A combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.Experience in project management and coordination is preferred; municipal electric systems experience is highly desirable.Physical Demands :
This position involves light to medium physical work, occasionally requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds and frequent use of lesser force to move objects. Duties often include repetitive motions and may involve exposure to adverse environmental conditions.Physical activities include climbing ladders, stairs, and poles; maintaining balance on narrow or uneven surfaces; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in tight spaces; reaching in all directions; standing and walking for extended periods; pulling, lifting, and moving objects; and using fine motor skills such as fingering, grasping, and feeling objects. The role also involves talking and hearing to communicate effectively, including in noisy environments, and performing tasks requiring repetitive hand or wrist motions.This position may require lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. Employees must have close visual acuity for tasks such as reading, computer work, data analysis, equipment inspection, and working with small parts or tools.Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Employees may experience extreme heat above 100F or extreme cold below 32F for extended periods and may be exposed to loud noise levels requiring raised voices for communication.Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment) :
The unavoidable hazards of this position include exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, for extended periods of time, as well as working in both indoor and outdoor environments with changing weather conditions. The position also involves exposure to loud noise levels, requiring raised voices to communicate effectively. Additionally, the role requires physical activities such as climbing, balancing, lifting heavy objects, and working in awkward or confined spaces, which can increase the risk of slips, trips, falls, muscle strain, and other physical injuries.Special Certifications and Licenses :
