How you make a difference
The Charge Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care during their shift, ensuring positive patient outcomes are achieved through collaboration with the healthcare team, family, and caretakers.
They support all personnel, supplies, and equipment, providing guidance, orientation, and oversight for RNs. They provide compassionate care to patients and promote collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive nursing assessments, creates and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes while ensuring appropriate delegation of tasks to team members.
- Provides oversight and guidance to RNs, including reviewing documentation, administering medication, and evaluating treatments.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, serves as a liaison with physicians, and participates in utilization review, discharge planning, and case management.
- Demonstrates accountability for professional practice, participates in performance improvement initiatives, maintains competencies for nursing care, and advocates for patient rights.
- Maintains a safe, clean, efficient, and caring environment while adhering to legal and regulatory parameters, practicing risk management, and ensuring patient confidentiality.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN qualification and nursing specialty certification preferred.
Experience
Experience in acute and / or forensic settings preferred.
Licenses / Certifications
Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice, or be eligible for same through reciprocity with other states.
