Summary : This role involves delivering patient care and transportation services at the EMT-P certification level, adhering to state certification and local medical protocols. The position supports a busy metropolitan advanced life support ambulance service, providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance transport.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform medical care including psychological support, airway and bleeding control, splinting, bandaging, and ALS procedures appropriate to certification level.
- Drive ambulance safely and smoothly, following good driving practices.
- Inspect, clean, inventory, and restock ambulance equipment; report or repair deficiencies.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas including bays, bathrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, and bedrooms.
- Respond to calls and relocate as directed by supervisor or dispatcher, handling routine transfers and emergencies.
- Accurately document patient care, physical findings, and billing information.
- Attend continuing education and training sessions regularly.
Education and Certifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.Current Paramedic certification by the state EMS authority.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.Completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 700 courses.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Experience :
Preferred experience with advanced life support services.At least one year of field EMS, rescue, or related work experience is desirable.Skills and Abilities :
Comprehensive knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials, and pre-hospital care equipment.Ability to work calmly under stress and follow established protocols.Strong interpersonal skills to interact compassionately and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare personnel.Capability to lift and move patients weighing up to 150 pounds, often requiring awkward positioning.Familiarity with regional geography and healthcare facilities in the Southeastern United States.Physical Requirements : Good speech and hearing for communication, visual acuity for patient observation, ability to operate emergency vehicles, and physical stamina to move through various environments and lift heavy objects.
