Associate Youth Minister

Job Description

Job Brief : Seeking a passionately Catholic Youth Minister to use their creative energy and interpersonal skills to evangelize and disciple the students at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in line with our vision and mission statement.

This position is currently open and reports to Director of Youth Evangelization and Catechesis.

Responsibilities : Work with a team of youth ministers to build, develop, and coordinate ministries to youth including weekly ministry, retreats, and relational ministry events.

• Work with youth ministry team to creatively and energetically minister to the youth, form authentic life-long disciples, and present the faith in a way that is innovative, dynamic, orthodox, and relevant to young people.
• Recruit, train and empower adult and youth volunteers to mentor and disciple youth.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with parents.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings.
• Plan and coordinate retreats in collaboration with youth ministry team.
• Assist with service projects and service days.
• Develop relationships with youth and their families by engaging as an active member of the parish and participating in outreach to youth including at schools and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry, Theology, Catechetics, or Religious Education.
• Candidate must be an active Catholic in good standing who is rooted in a deep prayer life.
• The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be highly motivated, energetic, and able to give and receive honest feedback and opinions to collaborate in a team environment with the parish staff and other two youth ministers.
• Candidate should possess excellent leadership and creative problem solving skills.
• Proficiency with social media and technology are essential.
• Ability to play guitar and lead worship a plus.
• Background in graphics and web design a plus.
• Spanish language proficiency a plus.

Background : Christ the Redeemer is a parish of over 7,000 families located in Cypress, TX, a northwest suburb of Houston.

Our parish, as part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, is composed of a broad mix of socioeconomic levels. The parish has grown greatly in the past decade;

youth ministry has been enthusiastically developed and supported by our pastor to accommodate growth. Weekly youth ministry is attended by 400-450 high school students with the aid of over 60 adult and youth volunteers and 200- 250 middle school students with 30 adult and youth volunteers.

With such a large program, ministry is not just to the students, but to the Core team as well as the parents and families.
