Job Description
Working in classrooms across KIPP St. Louis Public Schools, You are an educator who builds bridges. Bridging understanding and comprehension to support students who speak a variety of languages at home and helping these students learn in the English Language.
You’re great at communication and understand not just how to communicate ideas but also culture and customs. You want to make sure everyone understands, students, teachers, and parents to support students in their educational journeys.
Position Type : Part-time, Non-Exempt, 10-month
Tentative Start Date : July 22, 2024
On a day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following :
Curriculum Development and Instruction
- Work collaboratively with the Manager of ELL to ensure strong ESOL programming
- Teach small group ESOL classes and assist in writing a challenging curriculum that addresses the current academic levels of students, is standards-aligned, and promotes critical thinking
- Provide push-in ESOL support and additional intervention to scholars when appropriate
- Assist the ELL Teacher / Coordinator in completing and documenting state-mandated English language proficiency screening and testing at BOY and January of each school year
- Serve as a resource for teachers working with ELL students
- Analyze student achievement data each testing cycle to inform intentional language instruction for the coming unit.
- Attend meetings and conferences for parents of ELL students to ensure that parents have the necessary information so their child can achieve success
- Build strong relationships and positive rapport with students, families, and colleagues
- Model, enforce and uphold school’s values, policies, and culture
- Engage in frequent and open collaboration and communication with ELL Teacher / Coordinator and other colleagues around lesson planning, instructional observations, and student data
- Actively participate in weekly staff development activities, meetings, and weekly check-ins with ELL Teacher / Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What you bring to the table :
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Missouri Teacher Certification
- Must hold or be eligible for certification or ELL certification in the state of Missouri (required)
- Pass Criminal Background Check
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
