Position Overview
Seeking passionate Client Transportation Driver. Your role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of persons with special needs through safe and timely transport. From assisting clients on and off the vehicle to maintaining open communication with our program, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering a supportive and engaging service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients safely on and off the vehicle, ensuring proper restraints.
- Supervise clients attentively during transport.
- Follow traffic regulations for passenger and road safety.
- Demonstrate expertise in transportation routes and emergency services.
- Maintain open communication with the Program during routes.
- Record rider attendance and maintain vehicle logs accurately.
- Perform thorough DOT pre-trip inspections for vehicle safety.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
- Report all maintenance needs promptly to the Program Director.
- Immediately report incidents to the Program Director.
- Foster a positive atmosphere by effective communication.
- Perform assigned duties to support transportation services
- Engage in community activities to support client integration and foster positive relationships.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Must be 21 years or older.Possess a valid California Commercial Driver's License Class B with a passenger endorsement.Obtain a Medical Card for Class B within 30 days of employment.Attain VDDP Certification through CHP within 30 days of hire.Maintain an acceptable driving record.Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.Prior experience in transport service is desired.Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is desirable.Possess a high school diploma.Ability to pass a DOT pre-employment drug test.Physical and Mental Abilities
Good physical health, vision, and hearing.Ability to drive for extended periods of time, up to 3 to 4 hours with 15-minute breaks every 2 hours.Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.Demonstrated good judgment to make appropriate decisions.Ability to learn and interpret laws pertaining to driving vehicles.Ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers.Ability to manage client behaviors and maintain order.Schedule & Compensation
Temporary, As-Needed with the Possibility of Part-TimeFlexible hours, split shifts may be required to accommodate needs.Monday – Friday shifts : 5 : 30am-8 : 30am / 3 : 00pm-5 : 00pm or 6 : 30am-8 : 30am / 3 : 00pm-5 : 00pm.Shifts are subject to change.Reports to : Program Director
