Texas Oncology / Texas Breast Specialists is seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant II to join our dedicated team at the Mansfield, Midlothian and Dallas locations. This full-time position runs Monday-Friday from 8 : 30 AM to 5 PM—enjoy your weekends, holidays, and evenings off!

What is the Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)?

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) is an incentive program that typically vests over a three-year period and is tied to both individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based on your position, performance, and potential for future career growth at Texas Oncology. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review. LTIP awards are subject to your continued employment through the award payment date, and are governed by the written terms and conditions of the LTIP document.

What does the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) do?

As an MA, you’ll play a pivotal role in patient care, assisting physicians with exams and procedures and promoting efficient patient flow. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam / treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Maintains all exam / treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse / pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for diagnostic tests and prescriptions as needed.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests ordered by physicians.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, e.g., typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.

    Educational and Experience Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for the Clinic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will have the following background and experience :

  • Graduate from an accredited program with Certified Medical Assistants Certificate
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Willingness to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Oncology experience preferred and Surgical experience beneficial

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
