What does the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) do? (Including but not limited to) As an MA, you’ll play a pivotal role in patient care, assisting physicians with exams and procedures and promoting efficient patient flow. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepares and stocks exam / treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
• Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Maintains all exam / treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse / pharmacist.
• Phones in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
• Obtain prior authorizations for diagnostic tests and prescriptions as needed.
• Schedule diagnostic tests order by physicians.
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
• Performs other administrative duties, i.e., typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
• May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.

Educational and Experience Qualifications : Graduate from an accredited program with Certified Medical Assistants Certificate Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant Willingness to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate Current Certified Medical Assistant Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Oncology experience preferred Surgical experience beneficial.
