Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact RN license and 2 years of nursing experience, with Level I trauma and TNCC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching and children's hospital setting

Patient population includes both adult and pediatric emergency cases with high admission and ED hold rates

Nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1 : 5

Night shifts (4x12 hours, 19 : 00 to 7 : 30) with scheduling for weekends as needed

Floating may be required to Adult PCUs and potential to Peds ED or ED Holding areas

Cerner is used for charting; Cerner experience is not required but preferred

Black scrubs required, not provided by facility

Primary responsibilities include medication administration, including IV medications, and documenting and communicating clinical findings

Increased admit holds currently in the Emergency Department

Team-based environment in a large, academic medical center

No on-call required for this position

First-time travelers are considered if Level I trauma experience is strong

Employee holiday time off requests are limited; requests above 7 days require approval

Perm staff may return as travelers if separated from the system for 12 months or more

Holiday coverage and rotational scheduling expected

Parking is provided at no cost

Requirements

Active or pending NM or compact RN license

Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience; may consider 1.5 years with solid Level I trauma background

Current certifications required : ACLS, BLS, TNCC (must be obtained prior to consideration), PALS, NIHSS (can be obtained before compliance deadline)

Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred

Travel experience preferred, but first-time travelers with strong Level I Trauma background may be considered

COVID vaccination required unless an approved exemption is provided

No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius

Compliance with facility's drug screening and documentation policies

Must have a valid non-local driver’s license or provide alternative transportation plan
