Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact RN license and 2 years of nursing experience, with Level I trauma and TNCC certification preferred.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching and children's hospital settingPatient population includes both adult and pediatric emergency cases with high admission and ED hold ratesNurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1 : 5Night shifts (4x12 hours, 19 : 00 to 7 : 30) with scheduling for weekends as neededFloating may be required to Adult PCUs and potential to Peds ED or ED Holding areasCerner is used for charting; Cerner experience is not required but preferredBlack scrubs required, not provided by facilityPrimary responsibilities include medication administration, including IV medications, and documenting and communicating clinical findingsIncreased admit holds currently in the Emergency DepartmentTeam-based environment in a large, academic medical centerNo on-call required for this positionFirst-time travelers are considered if Level I trauma experience is strongEmployee holiday time off requests are limited; requests above 7 days require approvalPerm staff may return as travelers if separated from the system for 12 months or moreHoliday coverage and rotational scheduling expectedParking is provided at no costRequirements
Active or pending NM or compact RN licenseMinimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience; may consider 1.5 years with solid Level I trauma backgroundCurrent certifications required : ACLS, BLS, TNCC (must be obtained prior to consideration), PALS, NIHSS (can be obtained before compliance deadline)Level I Trauma experience strongly preferredTravel experience preferred, but first-time travelers with strong Level I Trauma background may be consideredCOVID vaccination required unless an approved exemption is providedNo local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radiusCompliance with facility's drug screening and documentation policiesMust have a valid non-local driver’s license or provide alternative transportation planBenefits
