Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud IT Software Systems Engineer to support the secure implementation, operation, and continuous monitoring of all NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) applications and data deployed across various cloud environments. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of cloud-based systems in alignment with federal security standards. Must have Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Certification.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and maintain cloud security architectures that comply with NOAA / DOC policies and federal guidelines, including NIST and FedRAMP standards.
Configure, implement, and harden security controls within cloud platforms to meet or exceed industry best practices.
Support proactive vulnerability management, conduct cloud-specific penetration testing, and lead remediation efforts.
Integrate cloud security logs and alerts into existing SIEM systems to ensure timely detection and response to incidents.
Maintain compliance with cloud security frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-53) and prepare documentation to support audits and assessments.
