What You'll Do
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol Public Affairs Unit
Report in location : 1970 W. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio 43223
Work Hours : Varies, dependent on student's school schedule
This is a ongoing internship located in Columbus, OH. The selected candidate will ideally be able to work throughout the school year and summer, for an average of 20 hours per week or less (with flexibility during the school semesters given class schedule and course load).
Major / field of study should be in : Communications, Marketing, or Journalism
The pay rate for a college intern is based upon the students' academic status :
Undergraduate students rate of pay - $16.93 per hour
Graduate students rate of pay - $20.59 per hour
Responsible for :
- Assisting with reviewing and editing media releases
- Writing, reviewing and editing articles for The Flying Wheel
- Assisting with the development of social media content
- Performing other related duties as required
The final candidate should be proficient in :
- Adobe Creative Cloud - InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere
- Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications
Employment Requirements (all must be verified upon hire)
To be eligible for an internship opportunity at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, an applicant must :
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, as verified via official or unofficial transcript or letter on letterhead from the Registrar's office confirming enrollment
- Be in good standing with the college / university
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0
- Be enrolled in at least one course
- Be pursuing a degree or finishing a degree
