Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic with a strong background in food manufacturing to join our production team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, a strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs, and the ability to work safely in a refrigerated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, conveyors, pumps, mixers, ovens, packaging systems, and other processing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure all equipment operates in compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend process improvements.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welders, and diagnostic instruments for repairs and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS system, documenting repairs, parts used, and work performed.
- Support installation and setup of new equipment and assist in line changeovers as needed.
- Ensure all maintenance activities align with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and plant safety policies.
- Work efficiently and safely in cold and refrigerated areas as part of daily duties.
- Assist in training operators on basic equipment care and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
3+ years of maintenance experience in food or beverage manufacturing, or a related industrial environment.Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, bearings, belts, gearboxes, and electrical systems.Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems and comfortable working in cold environments (refrigerated or freezer rooms).Basic electrical troubleshooting skills; ability to work safely with 480V systems is a plus.Proficiency with welding, fabrication, or machine shop tools.Understanding of preventative maintenance programs and work order systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production and quality teams.Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends or overtime as required.Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Must be able to work for extended periods in refrigerated or cold storage areas.Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.Exposure to wet, noisy, and fast-paced production environments.Adherence to all safety, PPE, and food sanitation standards.Compensation & Benefits
