Actalent is seeking a Quality Inspector so support a government contractor and client in Columbus, OH. The Ground Systems Division there is made up of engineers, designers, technicians, supply chain experts, and program managers contracted by the US Government and commercial clients to develop unique solutions to solve challenges associated with the design and integration of uparmored commercial vehicles (Toyota Land Cruisers, Ford Expeditions, etc), associated equipment, mission payloads, and tactical tools.

The Inspector will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams that we form around each project. This client will produce around vehicles per year.

The team-based approach means you will work side-by-side with, Program Managers, Engineers, Designers, Technicians, and other disciplines focused on successfully executing an integrated project plan resulting in delivering a specialized vehicle to a variety of customers on time and under budget.

In this position, you will gain exposure to all automotive systems across many diverse projects.

Tasks :

Independently perform final inspection of finished vehicles, focusing on attributes such as interior finish, exterior paint quality, general workmanship, and a functions check.

Make decision of vehicle acceptance to customer requirements at the conclusion of this work.

• Review documentation associated with the vehicle build for accuracy and completeness.
• Scan documentation and organize it in an electronic project folder for delivery to the customer.
• Review final inspection findings with production associates to verify understanding. Verify resolutions once complete and update final inspection records.

Escalate critical findings to management for resolution.

• Support other areas of the vehicle process as needed including cleaning / wipe down of vehicle.
• Support other inspection activities including receiving inspection using calipers, micrometers, and height gages as time permits

Additional Skills & Qualifications :

Associates degree in engineering or related field; 3 years of experience with inspection of complex fabricated parts, electronic and electromechanical systems;

or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

• Ability to use measurement hand tools such as micrometers and calipers and set-up equipment to perform inspection.
• Quality inspection experience working with technical drawings and QA procedures.
• The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction from management
• Superior attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including MS Windows and Office
• Previous automotive experience - nice to have!
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing - helpful to have!
• Hands on inspection and detail oriented person for outgoing quality assurances
