Environmental Program Manager North America
As an Environmental Program Manager North America, you will lead and support environmental management programs across multiple facilities in the U.S. and Canada. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, advancing environmental performance and sustainability initiatives, and driving continuous improvement aligned with ISO 14001 principles. This role is part of the environmental management function, responsible for implementing and maintaining programs that protect people, facilities, and surrounding communities while supporting operational and corporate sustainability goals.
What You'll Do :
- Lead North American environmental compliance and management programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state, local, and client requirements.
- Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, including audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead vendor management for environmental programs across North America, ensuring contractor compliance, performance, and achievement of program or project objectives.
- Manage permitting, reporting, documentation for air emissions, water discharges, and hazardous materials with management. Prepare and submit regulatory reports and interface with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Manage hazardous materials and waste programs, ensuring compliance handling, storage, labeling, and transportation. Approve hazardous waste shipments in accordance with client requirements.
- Review and approve chemicals, ensuring all materials are evaluated for environmental impact, regulatory compliance, and suitability for use.
- Coordinate environmental due diligence for real estate transactions, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, transaction screens, permit transfers, and site transitions.
- Oversee environmental data reporting by vendors, ensuring completeness and accuracy in adherence to client requirements.
- Lead North American environmental incident management including response, documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Review, provide guidance, and approve environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and support project teams with environmental and sustainability requirements to ensure regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.
- Maintain compliance documentation, training records, and audit readiness.
- Develop, obtain, and manage environmental funding and budgets to support compliance and strategic delivery of program objectives.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, risk reduction, and improved environmental performance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to management, staff, and clients on environmental issues.
- Lead by example, modeling behaviors aligned with organizational values, sustainability, and responsibility.
What You'll Need :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's Degree (Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field, preferred) with 8-10 years of relevant experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability (or equivalent combination of education and experience).Demonstrated experience managing environmental programs in multi-site operations such as data centers, corporate facilities, or industrial environments.Technical Expertise :
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and programs, including :Air, water, and hazardous waste permitting and reportingChemical management and hazard communicationSpill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) PlansWaste minimization, recycling, and sustainability initiativesEnvironmental due diligence (ASTM E1527-21 and E1528-22 standards)ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and auditing practicesDemonstrated ability to develop practical, compliant, and innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges.Proficient in Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools.Certifications / Training (Preferred) :
