Education and Experience Requirement

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or mathematics. Two years' experience working in manufacturing plus two years of experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment.

OR Five years of experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience desired. Certified Quality Engineer or Auditor preferred.

Skills Required

  • AS9100 or ISO-9001 Proficiency
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis knowledge.
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of quality. E.g., PFMEA, MSA, APQP, FAI, SPC, Cp / CpK, Gage R&R, GD&T.
  • Ability to motivate teams to obtain high performance to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Experience in implementation of Continuous Improvement projects
  • Ability to act as a professional representative of the company with Suppliers, Customers, and External Auditors.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced measuring equipment. E.g. calipers, micrometers, scales, CMM, Optical Comparator, etc.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Physical - office / sitting; and standing, walking, lending a hand on the manufacturing floor.
  • Working Hours- full-time (40+ hours / week) employment.
  • Personal Traits- Display good leadership qualities, excellent leadership communication skills with positive teamwork attitude.

Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot. Be a role model for the company and set the standard for productivity, safety and quality for employees at different levels to follow.

  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Minitab or Visio a plus.
  • Proficient in English, strong writing skills required.

Level of Responsibility and Authority

  • Responsible for judging acceptability of raw materials, in-process and finished products of questionable quality and for executing appropriate next steps.
  • Authority to approve first article inspection documentation for customer submission.
  • Authorized to audit processes and provide corrective actions.
  • Authorized to recommend to hire inspectors and technicians with Quality Manager approval.

Job Duties

  • Support compliance to the AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System.
  • In alignment with the Quality Manager, ensure customer satisfaction through timely and effective communication and resolution of Quality issues.
  • Work with Production leadership to ensure Production priorities are understood and met to the extent that the quality of the product is not compromised.
  • Manage incoming, in-process, and final inspection of raw material and components, and assemblies as required, including by 3

party testing.

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to define critical / control specifications and conduct part measurements to ensure compliance with tolerances.
  • Support development and initiation of standards and methods for inspection and testing
  • Lead or assist investigations into process or product Quality issues, determine root and contributing causes, drive resolution, assess effectiveness, and ensure the investigation and any new work process or quality is documented.
  • Support and continually improve the use of quality core tools throughout the company : Advanced Product and Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) system.
  • Regularly measure process capability across the plant. Use the raw and trend data to drive process improvements.
  • Perform and manage QC First Article Inspection activities.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure that correct procedures are followed and that documentation is prepared, in accordance with quality system, in accordance with schedule.
  • Ensure that QC Continual Improvement objectives are met.
  • Support the QC 6S program.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
