Job descriptionThe Sr. Quality Technician role is a laboratory bench-based role with responsibility for safely and efficiently processing customer sample analysis requests. With training the Sr. Quality Technician develops a good understanding of basic chemical principles that serve as the foundation of food and feed analysis. Individuals acting as a Sr. Quality Technician will have ownership of a select set of assays that they perform and report daily. They are responsible for preparing all reagents and standards as needed and keeping all documentation that is required in a GLP laboratory. Understand and adhere to all safety practices and procedures in place within Client Petcare Company and NP Analytical Laboratories. Understands and communicates the risks and hazards of laboratory chemicals and equipment. Work safely and contribute to a safe and orderly working environment. Complies with all PPE requirements. Identifies and corrects unsafe behaviors and activities. Receive submitted samples / service requests and Initiate assay workflow / traceability and report results into the laboratory information management system (LIMS). Act impartially, and work in accordance with the NPAL quality management system. Manages prioritization of submitted samples. Possess the ability to maintain equipment, repair minor problems and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as outlined in operating procedures and instrument control plans. Excellent time management skills to optimize schedule and prioritize work in accordance with requested specifications. Basic knowledge of Excel. Performs procedures as required. Effectively uses quality tools, control charts, lab investigations, and corrective actions. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List job duties which may be important to the performance of the job, but are not principal job functions). Ability to lift 50 lbs. General troubleshooting of equipment in work environment. Maintain current training in procedures, safety, office, LIMS, and various equipment. Influence purchase of common supplies for work area. Maintain knowledge of tests sufficient to enable customer interaction and correct assignment in LIMS. Participate in routine data reviews.
