POSITION SUMMARY :

The Engineering Intern is a college student in an accredited BSCE program. This individual will assist in the design of a variety of municipal and infrastructure projects (owned by municipalities and / or local school districts). Such projects may include roads, underground utilities, public buildings, recreational facilities, and parking facilities.

We are seeking Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Engineering Interns.

PRIMARY DUTIES :

• Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure.
• Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) using computer assisted design or drawing tools.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Assisting with building system design, including HVAC layouts, plumbing, and fire protection detail
• Supporting electrical and lighting design efforts for municipal and educational facilities.
• Performing basic engineering calculations and collecting design data to support both civil and MEP project teams.
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
• Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.
• Perform all design activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.
• Prepare public reports on topics such as bid proposals, project status reports and design criteria reports.
• Support of the field activities of project construction inspection staff, relating to design criteria, value engineering or changing site conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
