Supply Chain Coordinator

The Spice House is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to ensure materials and products move seamlessly across our production facility, warehousing, manufacturing partners, and customers. This role blends purchasing, logistics coordination, KPI reporting, and vendor management, supporting uninterrupted supply and efficient distribution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, skilled at managing purchase orders, coordinating freight, maintaining data accuracy, and identifying cost and process improvements. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, comfort working in manufacturing and WMS systems, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Supply Chain Coordinator plays a key role in supporting our cross-functional operations team and reports to the Supply Chain Manager. This hybrid position is based onsite at our Elk Grove Village, IL manufacturing facility up to 3 days / week and one day / week at our River North office.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and issue Purchase Orders to vendors based on the upcoming production schedule & long-term forecasts.
- Provide support to our Warehouse and Inventory teams. This includes gathering relevant paperwork, documenting damages and shortages, and communicating and troubleshooting issues with vendors and shipping partners.
- Track order confirmations, lead times, and delivery dates, and update information in the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system for inbounds of raw product and outbounds to our customers and partners.
- Maintain and organize purchasing and supplier records for traceability and compliance.
- Send updated demand forecasts to key vendors bi-monthly.
- Support procurement activities such as new vendor research, gathering quotes, conducting price comparisons, and tracking contract renewal timelines.
- Help evaluate supplier performance (price stability, quality, service, on-time delivery) and maintain vendor scorecard with key metrics
- Support risk mitigation efforts by helping establish backup supplier options for key materials.
- Coordinate co-manufacturing and co-packing activities, from delivery of raw goods to shipping of finished product.
- Support analysis of freight costs and assist in identifying opportunities for transportation savings.
- Monitor material availability and inventory levels across all storage sites. Provide reporting to the team and communicate shortages and / or potential shortage risks to the planning and production teams in a timely manner.
- Support production scheduling by ensuring material readiness for upcoming batches.
- Generate reports on open POs, inventory positions, and delivery status.
- Assist in drafting and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchasing and logistics workflows.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to streamline material flow, reduce waste, and enhance supplier collaboration.
- Ad hoc projects, as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).14 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or logistics (food manufacturing or distribution preferred).Highly organized with strong analytical skills and a sharp eye for detail.Technically proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, and Slides)Ability to quickly learn new operational programs and systems. Must be able to act independently within our systems to pull and analyze data.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience coordinating freight or working with carriers, 3PLs, or co-packers and co-manufacturers is a plus.Familiarity with food safety, lot traceability, and vendor documentation is a plus.Passion for food and flavor, a must!Why The Spice House :

Pay : All-in compensation package ranges from 50-65k based on experience
