Overview
Were actively looking for a Mid-Senior Level Waterfront Engineer to join our growing team in New England. Location flexibility is available; Rhode Island or Massachusetts offices are preferred. This role supports planning, permitting and design of waterfront and coastal infrastructure, including marinas, piers, bulkheads, seawalls, revetments, marine terminals, and living shoreline stabilization. The successful candidate will have experience designing and permitting waterfront projects and be a licensed professional engineer, joining a multidisciplinary team delivering coastal management solutions including coastal / waterfront engineering, coastal flood risk, resiliency and adaptation design, and dredged material management.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing Waterfront / Coastal practice projects and business development efforts.
- Assist in developing qualifications and proposals for waterfront infrastructure and coastal resilience-related RFPs.
- Assist and, ultimately, manage and perform engineering analysis, preliminary and detailed design of waterfront / coastal structures.
- Assist and, ultimately, manage projects (scope, budget, schedule) and collaborate with sub-consultants and team members, ensuring quality control throughout project execution, including :
Design and permitting of waterfront developments including piers, marinas and boardwalks
Analysis and design of flood and erosion control structures (seawalls, bulkheads, revetments, breakwaters), wave fences and fendering, and private / boardwalk recreation structures (fishing piers, marina docking, boat launches)Contributing to living shoreline erosion solutions designsConducting and / or reviewing technical analyses and calculationsCompleting mooring and berthing analyses and designDredging design and permittingPreparation of project specifications, bid and contract documentsConstruction contract administrationSite inspections and reportingQualifications
B.S. in Civil, Structural, Waterfront, or Coastal Engineering; MS degree preferred.8-11 years of experience in Waterfront Engineering, including geotechnical and structural analysis; 11+ years experience preferred.Professional Engineer designation required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.Knowledge of regulatory processes in Rhode Island preferred.Experience delivering projects for multiple Federal, state and local coastal agencies / clients; specific experience with USACE, FEMA, USGS, NOAA preferred.Knowledge of FEMAs National Flood Insurance Program and experience implementing FEMAs coastal flood hazard analysis and mapping methodologies.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities.Benefits
