Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Inspection Team Leader to play a key role on our team in Fairfax, VA.

The ideal candidate will have experience in structural inspections, project management and business development, who can bring creative problem-solving skills balanced with a strong background in the field.

This position provides the chance to work on a variety of project that include :

• Ancillary and sign structure inspections
• Above and below water bridge inspection including routine and fracture critical bridge inspections and reporting, bridge rehabilitation design, and bridge load ratings
• Design of bridges, transportation structures, earth retention structures, and waterfront structures
• Oil & Gas refinery facilities inspections and repair design

SUMMARY

The Senior Team Leader is responsible for leadership and development of inspection teams and assisting in the growth of the local office.

Position Description

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Supervises above water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection and evaluations.
• Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and / or design issues.
• Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Performs complex difficult engineering computations and estimates in designing engineering projects.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Manages and provides leadership on inspection and design projects, including : proposal preparationproject budgetsproject schedules and timely completionproject qualityproject profitability
• Mentors field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
• Makes independent decisions within a general framework.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Is active in technical societies.
• Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
• Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree and / or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 12 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
• Must have passed the NHI / FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Professional Engineer (P.E.)
• NICET certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license
