This position may be filled at the Fiscal Analyst 1, 2, or 3 level, depending on qualifications. Advancement to the next level will be based upon the successful completion of an established In-Training Plan. What You Will Be Doing You will serve as the senior technical expert for the Small Agency Financial Services (SAFS) Accounts Payable team on fiscal activity related, but not limited to, accounts payable. You will process, monitor, and analyze all the accounting aspects of SAFS Accounts Payable, and as needed, other SAFS general ledger activity. You will ensure all work is processed in compliance with contractual or grant terms, and State of Washington fiscal policies and regulations. You will be reviewing and auditing the work of other Fiscal Analysts and assist in trainings. You will also receive special projects then develop and perform fiscal research and analysis as needed to complete the projects.

Some of What You Will Enjoy Doing Senior technical expert for SAFS AP team, managing complex financial transactions for multiple agencies. Primary monitor of SAFS AP general ledger activity. Oversight of fiscal month / year close to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Review and release payment batches, verifying coding and GAAP compliance. Undertake special projects as assigned by supervisors or management. Train SAFS AP team on State financial systems, fiscal processing, policies, and regulations. Orient new staff at SAFS client agencies to payment processes and protocols. Process accounts payable transactions during team absences or peak volumes. Financial reporting for multiple agencies.

Qualifications The in-training is intended to provide an opportunity for an individual to gain the required experience on the job as part of a formal "in-training" plan. Upon successful completion of an in-training program (typically 6 to 12 months), the incumbent will move up to the next job classification that is listed on the in-training plan if applicable.

Required : Fiscal Analyst 1 (Range 45 : $4,027 - $5,398 per month) [OPTION 1] : Four (4) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or relevant financial field [OPTION 2] : Associate degree AND Two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or relevant financial field [OPTION 3] : A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, or related field NOTE : Any combination of education and / or experience totaling four (4) years

Fiscal Analyst 2 (Range 49 : $4,428 - $5,956 per month) [OPTION 1] : Five (5) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or relevant financial field [OPTION 2] : Associate's degree AND Three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or related field. [OPTION 3] : Bachelor's Degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, or related field AND At least 6 months of experience in accounting, auditing, or related field. [OPTION 4] : Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or related field.

Fiscal Analyst 3 (Range 55 : $5,137 - $6,906 per month) [OPTION 1] : Six (6) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or relevant financial field [OPTION 2] : Associate's degree AND Four (4) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or related field. [OPTION 3] : Bachelor's Degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, or related field AND Two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or related field. [OPTION 4] : Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or related field AND One (1) year of experience in accounting, auditing, or related field. Preferred : Two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience. Knowledge and experience using the statewide accounting system, Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS). Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and state government accounting rules, Statewide Accounting & Administrative Manual (SAAM).
