Pearson Ventures Strategy Role
Pearson Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Pearson, dedicated to investing in innovative education technology and workforce companies that align with Pearson's mission : empowering lifelong learning and driving strategic growth and innovation. Our team is responsible for strategic investments and partnerships, working closely with Pearson's business divisions, as well as the corporate M&A and Strategy teams, giving you exceptional learning and networking opportunities. This role offers significant exposure to Pearson's CEO, CFO, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Investments
Lead investments across the full lifecycle : sourcing & evaluation, transaction execution
Portfolio Management
Track and deliver strategic objectives for investment deals, promote collaboration and knowledge exchange
Strategic Partnerships
Identify partnership needs with business divisions and key stakeholders, develop commercial partnership opportunities
Qualifications & Skills
Strategic thinker who thrives on turning plans into reality
Background in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or corporate strategy / M&A / business development
Direct investment experience, including board participation and strategic guidance to portfolio companies
Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
Commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and structure deals
Proven ability to lead and work within high-performing teams
Credibility with senior / executive management and ability to build influential relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and high emotional intelligence
Self-starter with a results-driven approach, able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with AI productivity tools
Compensation
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows : The minimum full-time salary range is between $165,000 - $205,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday 26th November.
