Intern - Operations
Job Scope
This person will work on targeted projects individually or as part of a small team. Projects may require operational observations, data collection / analysis, multi-functional communication and problem solving.
Upon completion, the project will be presented to a broader leadership team. The internship will include assignments on ambitious and industry-specific projects and tasks that a traditional Industrial Engineer would support in a distribution environment, as well the opportunity to network with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers.
This person will also provide support with the day-to-day operation and project-based assignments. Focus will be on continuous improvement and business optimization for operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and equipment
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine workflow processes, staff requirements, and production standards
- Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency
- Evaluate material handling equipment requirements as needed
- Conduct observations and time studies on warehouse floor to create standards / rate development
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Aid in special projects
- Performs other duties as required

- Ability to work with basic engineering and mathematical concepts and principles, applying them to practical situations
- Ability to use computers, systems, and software applications to enter data and process / maintain information in written and electronic form.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Requirements
The Liberty Co-op / Intern Program seeks top talent. To be considered for enrollment, candidates must meet the following requirements :
- Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Supply Chain / Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related major from an accredited institution
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0 scale) and in Sophomore year or greater
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without restriction
- Reside within daily commuting distance of internship location
Position location : On-site (office is located in Winston-Salem, NC)
Full time : 35 - 40 hours / week (6 Month Internship)
Hourly Range : $17 - $23
