Position Overview The Square One Program Manager provides oversight, professional expertise, and direction for the planning, execution, and evaluation of all small business and career readiness / workforce development programming and events offered by Square One.

The Program Manager is responsible for tasks associated with scheduling daily programs, events, and activities. The Program Manager ensures that Square One meets its mission to enrich the lives of MCPL customers by creating new partnerships in the community and sourcing subject matter experts for programming.

The Program Manager also assists in creating and leading small business and career readiness / workforce development programs and events.

This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all staff and customers. Essential Functions

  • Oversees Square One programming and events to achieve strategic success of the small business and career readiness / workforce development program plan
  • Curates virtual, in-person, and hybrid small business and career readiness / workforce development programs
  • Develops, presents, and teaches in-house programs and events
  • Executes programs offered by Square One through collaboration with MCPL staff, program presenters, and partner organizations
  • Administers and reports program evaluations
  • Researches, recommends, and develops Square One services around business and career topics, literature, and trends
  • Serves as Square One liaison for staff, community, and partners
  • Cultivates and supports outreach opportunities for the Square One small business center and executes Square One marketing strategies, including updating social media sites and Square One website

Non-essential Functions

  • Participates and contributes to system-wide Library committees and activities, attends conferences and workshops
  • Makes recommendations for non-print materials purchases

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or HiSet Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of education, communication, or similar field Preferred
  • 2 years experience with small businesses or comparable experience Required
  • 2 years experience in curriculum development Required
  • 2 years event or program planning experience Required

  • An advanced understanding of system-wide DEI initiatives in the organization, the impact of policies and procedures on DEI, and how DEI principles impact the workplace and library services

Must be at least 18 years of age

MVR Requirement

Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for use in carrying out the duties of this position including transportation of materials and equipment (mileage reimbursed)

Work Environment

Indoor / Outdoor) Works both indoors and outdoors and must have considerable tolerance for weather conditions, dust, mold, scents, allergens, and communicable diseases which enable the employee to work outside at a facility, handle construction and library materials, work in older buildings and on jobsites, and interact with coworkers and the public.
