Job Title : Pipe & Valve Material Engineer Location : Onsite – Ogden, Utah Duration : 1-Year Contract Pay Rate : $75–$90 / hour (based on experience) Per Diem & Mobilization : Provided for candidates located more than 50 miles from the job site Work Schedule : Full-Time, Onsite Position Overview A leading engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Pipe & Valve Material Engineer to support a large-scale defense infrastructure project in Ogden, Utah. This is a one-year onsite contract role offering competitive hourly pay, per diem, and mobilization assistance for eligible candidates. The successful candidate will oversee the technical aspects of pipe and valve materials, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and procurement requirements. You’ll play a key role in supporting engineering, procurement, and construction teams throughout all project phases. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain piping material class sheets, line class specifications, and valve specifications. Prepare and execute material requisitions for bulk pipe, valves, fittings, supports, and related components. Perform calculations for minimum wall thickness, stress, and material evaluations per ASME B31.1, B31.3, and related standards. Review and coordinate piping and valve technical documents, bid evaluations, and supplier submittals. Collaborate closely with supply chain teams, suppliers, and construction staff to resolve technical issues. Review and disposition supplier deviations, RFIs, NCRs, and Field Change Documents. Ensure all materials and configurations meet project design and quality requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience considered. 8–10 years of relevant experience (or 12–14 years without a degree). Strong knowledge of ASME piping codes (B31.1, B31.3, IPC, etc.). Prior experience developing piping material specifications and class sheets. Familiarity with Smart Plant Reference Data (SPRD) and Oracle Agile. Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (active clearance preferred).
