Job Title
Synthesizes and purifies inhalation anesthetic agents through the operation and maintenance of reactions and distillations along with related support equipment and systems. Supports the Production Supervisor in site-wide commitments and deliverables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the Production Supervisor to achieve company goals and team success providing first line responsibility for safe operation of chemical operations, the manufacturing process, maintenance, and / or work on shift. Ability to motivate others through coaching and directing the team. Direct the appropriate response to a safety incident or emergency until chain of command arrives. Reinforce and ensure plant safety practices and maintain constant alert for hazardous conditions on a daily basis. Keeps Production Supervisors and Management informed as to the state of operations and production needs. Lead / Participate in Incident and Discrepancy Investigations. Shares dual responsibility with Production Supervisor in ensuring organization and cleanliness of the Production Floor as well as ensuring efficient operations to meet Production demands and schedules. Cooperates with management and colleagues on site to provide a safe and healthy working environment Follows operating procedures, rules and instruction to work in a safe fashion Acts responsibility in the use of plant and equipment; does not use equipment not trained to use Does not interfere or misuse anything provided in the interest of health, safety and environmental protection Makes managers aware of any hazard / potential hazard and reports any unusual occurrences of faulty equipment Stops anyone who works in a dangerous fashion and reports this to their manager so they can be shown the proper practice Takes immediate and appropriate action to remove any hazard created Wipe up spillages immediately while not putting themselves at risk Uses the safety equipment provided, including personal protective equipment, for defined situations taking care of it as if it were their own Has any personal injuries examined by first aiders or medical staff and reports all accidents, however minor, to supervisor Takes part in safety inspections as required Understands and performs work activities in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) (21 CFR 210 & 211) in all areas of business where the cGMPs apply Works with and handles hazardous, flammable and highly hazardous materials in drums, cylinders, bulk tanks, etc Follows the MSDS precautions while wearing required personal protective equipment Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of chemicals Monitors panel board and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of pressure, liquid elevation and distribution of chemicals Completely and accurately records data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operations, raw materials, temperature and pressure, water levels and analysis of egress gases Runs distillation columns, reactors, filters and molecular sieves Withdraws samples at times indicated and tests them to determine acidity, color and impurities Takes samples to the laboratory for analysis Adjusts the PH of discharged water Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustments or lubrication Records operations and maintenance actions taken on production records Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, gaskets, valves, recorders and gauges; and by cleaning various components and replacing filters or other components Performs acid titration tests Oils and lubricates equipment Employs and promotes safe working practices in compliance with OSHA and company policy Is able to identify and protect him / herself, other employees and the facility from hazards while performing job duties Executes product transfers safely and accurately Maintains the production area in a clean and organized condition Sweeps, mops, dusts, polishes and waxes as needed Paints Assists other functional departments when needed including : Maintenance, Packaging, Warehouse, Engineering and Quality Control Operates fork lift and pallet jack Enters data into SAP Performs other duties as requested by the Shift Supervisor
Education / Experience
Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a team leadership role in plant environment Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience as chemical plant operator Mechanical aptitude and the demonstrated ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance High School Diploma (college degree preferred) Excellent interpersonal & communication skills Familiarity and operating experience with all production processes Good troubleshooting skills Commitment to safety and the environment Good written and verbal communication skills Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook) Familiarity with cGMP and its requirements Ability to multitask, evaluate available resources and delegate duties to ensure schedule adherence No warnings on file within the last 12 months
