About the Division :

The Criminal Records Division (CRD) is comprised of four sections : Collision Records, ACCESS, Identification and Background Check Section, and Criminal History Records Section. The Criminal Records Division manages the collection and dissemination of criminal justice information and provides complete, accurate, and accessible criminal history in the interest of public safety.

About the Position :

The Criminal History Records Section provides complete, accurate, and accessible criminal history in the interest of public safety.

This position supports the organization's mission by receiving electronic disposition entries into the Washington State Identification System (WASIS) criminal history database from court systems. The incumbent will use available resources to research open dispositions to ensure complete and accurate criminal history record information (CHRI) for dissemination upon request to law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, public and private sector employers, and the general public.

This position is built upon the great work that has been done to improve the completeness and accuracy of CHRI reporting done through the National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) grant projects and through the training, auditing and outreach programs. This position works on the Fix NICS state implementation plan, improving and building upon the disposition compliance audit program, participates in federal projects relating to criminal history records, and works with Washington Criminal Justice Agencies to improve criminal history record reporting completeness and accuracy.

Please Note : This recruitment is to fill two vacant project positions. Funding end date is 12 / 31 / 2026.

Duties

Our new teammate will be able to :

  • Act as liaison between the Criminal History Records Section (CHRS) and our customers by providing quality information and training to criminal justice and non-criminal justice contributors and users.
  • Assist criminal justice agencies (CJA) and private and public sector agencies throughout the state by providing fingerprint rolling techniques training and RAPsheet reading classes.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on criminal history record and sex / kidnapping registration reporting, advising agencies on best business practices.
  • Provide audit information and facilitate Stakeholder Meetings throughout the state.
  • Coordinate with counties' criminal justice agencies to hold bi-annual stakeholder meetings.
  • Compile and disseminate the Annual Compliance Report on Disposition Reporting.
  • Reconcile WASIS RAPsheet with the FBI III.
  • Ensure training materials are up-to-date and complete.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications :

  • High school graduation or GED equivalency.
  • Associates Degree OR
  • One of the following :
  • Two years experience working in a records entry or dispatch position in a Washington state criminal justice agency
  • Two years as a business auditor
  • A combination of both adding up to two years' experience
  • Must posses a valid Washington State Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment), in order to provide training and livescan installations throughout the state.
  • Must be able to travel alone or with others in a state vehicle.
