Position Summary : Responsible for collection of field surveying data, and operation of specific survey instruments for the field crew.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT / OPT / STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Compensation for this position is $25.00 - $38.00 / hourly, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations and angles

Perform boundary, topography, ATLA, right of way, and construction surveys

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS, and survey vehicles

Record accurate and clear field notes

Document assignments

Collect data using survey equipment

Perform calculations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Valid Driver’s License

Skills in mathematics and coordinate geometry

Required Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Familiarity with total stations, data collectors and GPS

  • Working Conditions

    Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.

    Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

    Anticipated travel 20% of the time and night work.
