Responsibilities

Department Summary

The Department of Initial Teacher Preparation and Services seeks part-time faculty to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Undergraduate courses and clinical supervision include the following areas : American Sign Language / English interpreting, deaf education, middle grades education, and secondary education. Graduate courses and clinical supervision include the following areas : teacher leadership, curriculum and instruction, deaf education, and middle grades education (math and science).

Part-Time faculty must perform duties associated with teaching at the post-secondary level. These include (but are not limited to) : preparing lectures and their class instructional materials; preparing and leading class discussion; providing prompt responses to student questions and inquiries as well as prompt and appropriate feedback on tests, quizzes, and assignments; and following VSU policies and procedures related to teaching.

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate Instruction and Supervision : Master's degree in the appropriate field (at least 18 graduate credit hours in a related field)
• Graduate Instruction : Terminal degree in the appropriate field
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

Conditions of Employment

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest / Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
