Motor Vehicle Supervisor
The Motor Vehicle Supervisor is responsible for the management and day-to-day operation and work activities for a Motor Vehicle branch office of the Douglas County Clerk & Recorder's office as directed by the leadership team. This is a highly visible position requiring exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The Motor Vehicle Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the culture and working environment is conducive to optimum employee productivity, maintaining compliance with regulations. The Motor Vehicle Supervisor is responsible for coaching and supervision of staff; creation and enforcement of policies, procedures, and state statutes and regulations. Coordinates with and assists other Clerk & Recorder Divisions as needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities include managing the daily operation of a Motor Vehicle branch office, ensuring statutory and internal process compliance of all Motor Vehicle functions, managing and resolving problems or issues with customers and staff, acquiring and maintaining a highly technical working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards, and Motor Vehicle operations procedures, working closely with the Department of Revenue to research, identify and resolve complex title / registration transaction issues, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, internal, and external agencies, creating daily office schedules to include office coverage and training, assisting in the new hire process by reviewing applications and conducting interviews, creating and delivering performance evaluations of the Motor Vehicle staff in collaboration with the Deputy of Motor Vehicle, supervising and directing work for staff and monitoring their responsibilities to ensure compliance with office policies and procedures, County policy, and state statute, working with Deputy of Motor Vehicle and Human Resources to address and resolve staff personnel matters, assisting with monitoring the operating budget for the branch and making budget recommendations to the Deputy of Motor Vehicle, balancing or overseeing balancing of the cash tendering system (CTS) for the branch office, overseeing Lead duties, License plate inventory, error report, locator report, timesheets, staff meetings and notes and promoting professional development of staff and self, living out the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the Clerk and Recorder's Office, maintaining a supportive environment conducive to teamwork, performing other duties as assigned, providing support across Divisions as business needs arise, cross-training as needed to support Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), and all Clerk & Recorder employees may be required to work in the Elections Division in any capacity that is needed during election cycles.
Minimum qualifications include a High School or GED, a minimum of one year of Lead or Supervisory experience, four years of Motor Vehicle experience, or a combination of some Motor Vehicle experience and additional Supervisory experience totaling a minimum of four years, experience working with the public, and a combination of education and experience may be considered for a well-qualified candidate. Certifications, licenses, and registrations include a valid Colorado Driver's License upon hire, with complying insurance, review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment, and must be a US Citizen.
