Plant Controller
The Plant Controller is responsible for directing the financial management, business planning and accounting activities of a plant. The Plant Controller normally supervises the plant payroll, payables, receivables, management and financial reporting. The Plant Controller is involved in developing short- and long-term plans and forecasts based on business goals; providing financial and operational analysis of results; and providing financial and operational alternative recommendations to improve plant results.
Principal responsibilities include :
- Directing the accounting and financial affairs of the plant and providing guidance for management decisions
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Conducting month / year-end closings
- Coordinating and directing the preparation of budget and financial reports and forecasts
- Maintaining a system of accounts and document balances through complete and timely account reconciliations
- Preparing internal reports and analyzing variances
- Making recommendations to plant management aimed at improving the short and long-term results of the plant
- Reviewing the financial position and key control issues with plant management on a quarterly basis
- Working with internal audit on control based work
- Managing the profit forecasting, annual budgeting and month-end closing processes
- Managing the capital expenditure process
- Ensuring plant accountants have detailed capital expenditure tracking in place
- Providing guidance, training, and operating documentation to accounting staff
- Conducting succession planning activities within the plant
Basic qualifications include :
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance8+ years' experience in the accounting function5+ yrs. experience in a manufacturing settingSolid understanding of financial / accounting procedures, GAAP concepts and principlesStrong analytical and mathematical skillsWorking knowledge of general ledger financial systems and inventory managementStrong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with business managementAbility to plan and manage numerous projects and areas concurrentlyStrong working knowledge of Word, Excel and accounting softwareStrong leadership, problem solving and training skillsMust be able to travel as necessary and authorized to work in the U.S.Preferred qualifications include :
Masters in finance or accountingCPA designation2+ yrs. previous supervisory management with experience in hiring, coaching, performance development, and corrective actionKnowledge, skills, and abilities include :
Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customersExcellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skillsMust be capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solvingMust be capable of working with ambiguity and changeCompensation and benefits include :
Starting salary range for position : $87,000 - $100,000
Bonus : Annual Based upon individual contribution and overall, Company performance
Paid Vacation : Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
