Summary :

Our Consumer and Regional Banking (CRB) Data Office team is growing, and we’re looking for an outstanding Data Governance and Operations Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of CRB critical data elements (CDEs), ensuring the data produced by CRB businesses is fit for purpose by providing data governance and operational data management support.

The Data Governance and Operations Specialist partners with our Chief Data & Architecture Office (CDAO) as the execution arm of data governance and management within CRB businesses, driving the identification of CDEs, including their associated data quality, metadata, lineage, and reference data, supporting the prioritization of data and analytics-related issues and needs, and supporting data literacy within CRB.

Our goal is to be the best performing Regional Bank in America, and we need data and analytics to meet that goal.

This is a Hybrid role reporting to either Minnetonka, MN or Columbus, OH

Responsibilities :

  • Supports Huntington’s data management and governance practices and ensure compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Ensures CDEs metadata, business definitions and lineage are documented into the enterprise-wide platform.
  • Drives the continuous profiling of CDEs, to monitor and improve CRB’s data quality.
  • Coordinates the management of CRB reference data with the CDAO.
  • Implements effective data management and governance practices and ensure adherence to the Data Policy and standards.
  • Promotes and coordinates change management practices regarding data management activities.
  • Partners with CRB Data Trustees, Data Curators, and technology colleagues across the data lifecycle.
  • Ensures CRB data is fit for purpose for regulatory and management reporting.
  • Drives data issues identification, root cause analysis, documentation, and resolution.
  • Helps manage the inventory of data-related controls on systems that support segment processes and customers.
  • Knowledge of the legal, compliance, and regulatory issues impacting data.
  • Partners with the CDAO Data Literacy team to support data literacy efforts within CRB.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years experience in data governance, including data quality, master data and metadata management.
  • 5+ years of experience in a role focused on data operations or in a cross-functional department.
  • 5+ years of experience in coordinating processes and successful delivery of solutions.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certified Data Management Professional accreditation
  • Experience working with Data Governance roles to coordinate data governance activities.
  • Experience with data management and governance policies, standards, metrics, controls, and processes.
  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in a cross-functional manner with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Able to execute long-term vision into actionable short- and medium-term objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a knack for troubleshooting process-related issues.
  • Familiarity with data structures and databases.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Power Platform, AzureDevOps, AWS and SQL.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills, including ability to draft business requirements.
  • Ability to rapidly comprehend the changes to key business processes and the impact on the overall Data Governance framework.
  • In-depth understanding of consumer banking business objectives and how our Data Policy & Standards support those objectives.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex situations and weigh different options to recommend value-add solutions.
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships throughout the organization.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
