POSITION SUMMARY

The Career Services & Workplace Literacy Coordinator supports the school district's Adult Education Department by overseeing career services, student transitions, and workforce training programs. This role coordinates Integrated Education and Training (IET) and Workplace Literacy (WPL) initiatives, builds partnerships with employers and community organizations, and assists adult learners in achieving academic and career goals. The Coordinator facilitates student recruitment and retention, provides career readiness instruction, monitors program effectiveness, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. This position plays a vital role in preparing adult learners for successful entry into post-secondary education and the workforce.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in education, Adult Education, Workforce Development, or related field required.

  • Minimum of 1- 3 years of experience in career services, workforce development, adult education, or a related field

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of adult education principles, workforce development, and career services best practices
  • Strong skills in program coordination, outreach, and partnership building with employers and community organizations
  • Ability to develop and implement Integrated Education and Training (IET) and Workplace Literacy (WPL) programs
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple priorities and projects
  • Ability to analyze program data and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of adult learners and workforce demands
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide workforce readiness and life skills instruction supporting adult education, HSE graduation, post-secondary education, and workforce entry.
  • Assist students with academic evaluation, goal setting, career exploration, and provide informational materials.
  • Build and maintain community and workforce partnerships to reduce barriers and create job and training opportunities.
  • Lead orientation sessions, coordinate HSE graduation, and serve as EAGLE Coordinator.
  • Conduct workshops on career development, college preparation, work skills, and job readiness.
  • Collaborate with colleges, employers, workforce boards, and community agencies to support seamless transitions and Integrated Education and Training (IET) opportunities.
  • Co-coordinate IET programs, develop learning objectives, facilitate sessions, and oversee Workplace Literacy (WPL) classes aligned with employer needs.
  • Lead outreach, recruitment, and intake for adult learners pursuing industry credentials.
  • Monitor and evaluate IET and WPL program effectiveness, manage operations, maintain records, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop referral processes and partner with community organizations for adult education program referrals.
  • Stay current on best practices and funding opportunities to continuously improve program quality.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed

    Upper Body Mobility : Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.

    Strength : Ability to lift, push, pull and / or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis.

    Environmental Requirements : Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

    Mental Requirements : Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress

    Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities : Will require travel to multiple sites.

    Salary Grade : $28.00 per hour
