About The Position
We are seeking a board-certified Pathologist for an 8-day locum tenens assignment in Illinois beginning Nov 24, 2025. This role features day shifts from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, no overtime, and includes night call and possible 24-hour call coverage. The ideal candidate will independently manage a diverse caseload and collaborate with clinicians to ensure high-quality diagnostic services.

Responsibilities and Duties
Review and sign out pathology cases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnosesPerform grossing on surgical specimens with assistance from histotechs for small biopsies, slide preparation, and special stainsAnswer phone calls from clinicians regarding pathology-related questions and concernsReview and interpret peripheral blood smears as neededAddress blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions and related commentsPerform cellular adequacy checks for Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and CT-guided biopsiesProvide night call coverage and respond to urgent cases as requiredAdditional Information
Board Certification in Pathology requiredStrong experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review essentialMust hold an active Illinois medical licenseAbility to work independently and efficiently manage a caseloadExcellent communication skills for clinician interactionExperience with Cerner EMR system preferredBenefits
