Manufacturing Engineer 2 (Industrialization Leader) - Machining and Sheetmetal

Responsibilities
Industrialization Leader
- Manage the technical development of a product from conception to production.
- Utilize core tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, control plans, etc.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, tooling and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes. May develop new tools as needed.
- Review and approve or reject engineering drawings in accordance with internal DFM guidelines and requirements. Propose changes and updates to DFM guidelines.
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions.
- Ensure design and process are sufficient to produce the quality of product required by internal and external standards. Support related improvements and projects.
- Support production areas, fabrication and final assembly, when new product is being launched to quickly address and correct any issues that may arise.
- Determine root causes of failures or production problems and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Design and develop the process as necessary to produce the product at the volume and quality required.
- Keep up to date with relevant technological advances and support implementation of new processes and machines.
- Attend design reviews and provide relevant feedback for manufacturability.
- Support engineering as necessary through development phase (collaboration, drawing review, etc.).
Production Support
Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods.Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.Review product design for manufacturability or completeness.Perform root cause analysis on non-conformance.Define rework processes and manage some aspects of Non-conformance records.Process Improvement
Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.Manage tool control on the line. Order and register new tools if needed.Lead cross-functional projects of medium impact or complexity and assist with projects with higher caliber.Qualifications
Education & QualificationB.S degree in a related technical field (e.g., Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer / Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience.
Work Experience - Technical knowledgeThree years of manufacturing experience required in a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer or related Engineering capacity. Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred. Catia V.5 or design modeling a plus.
Professional SkillsMust have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes; able to prepare well-written reports; knowledge of manufacturing and related operations; Lean Manufacturing principles preferred; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and OS; ability to generate written communication; ability to read and review written communication; English communication skills.

Desirable AttributesAPQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan; CATIA V.5, CAD Modeling experience; Problem Solving.
