Founded in 1955, the Don Bosco Technical Institute is a private not-for-profit high school located in Rosemead, CA. The school is currently the only fully integrated Catholic, college preparatory, and engineering-science-technology focused school in the United States.

We currently seek an Athletic Director, to provide leadership in all matter related to the operation of the Athletic Department.

The Athletic Director reports to the Principal and supervises the Athletic Department Staff, including an Associate Athletic Director and all coaches.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Directs the interscholastic athletic program including but not limited to : scheduling, supervision of coaches, staff and students involved with the programs in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the California Interscholastic Federation, the Catholic Athletic Association and appropriate league constitutions.
  • Supervises all Athletic Department Programs; personnel, student-athletes, and guides booster executive groups. Works with the Booster Club program to ensure all teams are supported.
  • Supervises all athletic equipment and facilities used in the interscholastic athletic programs, including the gym, baseball field, track, soccer fields, and weight room.

Ensure athletic facilities are maintained and updated as needed and that teams and coaches have access to facilities including locker rooms as needed.

  • Responsible for the Athletic Department budget including apparel, equipment, facility maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of coaches. Recommends suitable candidates for contract to the Principal.
  • Build out and develop Bosco Tech’s sports information program; press releases, social media presence, event programs, etc.
  • Support coaching staff with honoring athletes with awards and banquets as well as supporting athletes with scholarship recommendation process and school athletic awards.
  • Coordinate and ensure all facets of game management are taken care of including referees, security, concessions, etc.
  • Maintains records and supervises eligibility of students for interscholastic athletics.
  • Supervises arrangements and preparations for all home and away contests.
  • Represents the school and department at all awards ceremonies and at all league; C.I.F.; C.A.A. as well as all other meetings as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA athletic and academic rules and regulations
  • Fosters an environment of teamwork and commitment of athletic department personnel by developing and improving effective methods of communication.
  • Is a member of the school's administrative Principal’s council.
  • Prepares for all seasonal department and bi-annual Athletic Committee meetings.
  • Performs all other related duties when called upon by the Principal or President to do so.
  • Fosters the department and school Philosophy and Mission statements in a spirit of assistance and presence as set out in the teaching system of Don Bosco.
  • Educate the Bosco Tech community, including parents, faculty and students, about the school’s philosophy and approach regarding athletics.

Minimum Qualifications :

Qualified applicants will have at least a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience in the functioning of a high school athletic department and / or extensive background in interscholastic sports at a comparable level.
