Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a COBOL Professional to provide support to a federal customer.

The Program :

The Client's service is responsible for exchanging payroll data with the DFAS, resulting in a payroll amount of approximately two-billion-dollars annually.

• The Department's Payroll function is outsourced to the DFAS for the actual payroll calculation(s), creation of the employee's Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), and other tax documents.
• The DPP service is used to sort, combine, and process the required Human Resource information, Time and Attendance information and other applicable information for the DFAS.
• The data processing programs are written in COBOL and run in a batch mode.
• DPP also utilizes several utility programs that 14 were developed with Job Control Language (JCL) for sorting, backups, restores, etc.
• The batch applications communicate with the Corporate Human Resource Information System, DOEInfo and ATAAPS database management systems through SQLNet / Oracle and Secure File Transfer utilities.
• Payroll processing involves daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.
• There are approximately 52 jobs included in the payroll processing, which involves indexed sequential access method (ISAM)-based file processing.
• DPP utilizes Microsoft Windows application-based operating system, Oracle Databases, integrated development environment, batch scheduling, file editing, secure file transfer and data comparison software.
