Commercial Truck Driver : Class A & B

HOURS : Full-Time

PAY : $28.00 $31.00

Benefits : Eligible employees are provided with the opportunity for individual medical plans through Kaiser and Western Health Advantage.

401k retirement plan is available to eligible employees with safe harbor match contribution of 100% of what they contribute, up to 4% of salary.

Eligible employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum 24 hours accrual per calendar year and a cap of 48 hours.

Unpaid time-off may be taken after request and upon supervisor approval.

INTENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION

This job description describes the duties and responsibilities, qualification requirements, physical demands, and work environment for this job.

OBJECTIVE

Driving flatbed truck with or without piggyback forklift and / or dump for the purpose of delivering or transferring lumber, building materials, and landscaping materials locally.

Provide customer service to customers, provide customers with atmosphere that is well maintained, clean, organized and safe.

Responsibilities :

1. Provide service to contractors, professional builders and walk-in Customers.

2. Ensure work areas and customer areas are clear of trash, weeds and other obstacles to allow customer to shop easily and safely and to provide a safe work environment.

3. Unload merchandise, check paperwork and utilize appropriate machinery or tools to work with merchandise without damage to products.

4. Load merchandise per delivery ticket and prepare load for delivery.

5. Adhere to Company forklift preventative maintenance standards and advise management of mechanical and maintenance problems to ensure repairs and maintenance are performed.

6. Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.

7. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

8. Safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck

9. Properly track and document activity log

10. Report any issues or incidents to dispatch, Inspect truck before and after trip, Safely operate a piggy-back forklift

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required : Previous experience in truck driving or other related field, Commercial driver's license, Ability to handle physical workload, Strong work ethic.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

High school education; and one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

A certificate issued by prior employer or outside vendor on the correct and safe operation of a forklift is desirable. Class A or B License welcome

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Good Customer Service skills are necessary. Ability to operate a forklift is desirable. Knowledge of building materials products and lumber (especially how to pull, prepare packages and load) is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;

reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The Associate is required to sit.

The Associate must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, Associate will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

Associate frequently works in precarious places and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
