Accelerate Diagnostics is seeking a motivated Research Associate who would like to gain hands-on experience in an R&D pilot lab supporting antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) assay development.
The successful candidate will be passionate, well-organized, detail-oriented, and work independently as well as in a team environment.
The candidate will spend approximately 70% of their time on basic laboratory techniques and the remaining 30% on assisting technical staff with routine lab and office work including equipment maintenance and cleaning, data entry and data management.
The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Comply with lab safety
- Perform bench-scale and pilot-scale production for assay R&D (buffers, growth media, antibiotic stocks, etc.)
- Work with Operations to develop processes for production-scale formulations, and document them for transfer
- Assist in all aspects of lab workflow and record keeping
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Receive direction from Team Lead / scientists for daily activities and assignments
- Work with Scientists and other Research Associates to execute experiments, troubleshoot and develop solutions when problems occur, conduct analyses and record data
Qualifications
Formal Education / Relevant Experience :
- BS in a scientific discipline
- 1 year relevant experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Safety conscious
- Basic wet chemistry knowledge and skills
- Experience with chemistry / biochemistry lab equipment and techniques (electronic balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, pipettes, vacuum filtration, peristaltic pumps, stir plates, vortex mixers, etc.)
- Experience with aseptic technique preferred
- Accurately follows verbal and written instructions, asks clarifying questions
- Can efficiently and accurately execute steps in a procedure
- Detail-oriented, good at record keeping and well-organized
- Positive attitude, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Passionate about learning and desire to make a meaningful impact
- Interest in growing as part of a team
- Can work creatively in a fast-paced, start-up company environment with dynamic priorities and timelines
