Job description

Dental Health Assistant

We are looking for a Dental Health Assistant to join our Dental Team in Wheaton. Experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred, however, we are willing to train you for this role. This is an on-call position with a flexible schedule allowing you to work no more than 1000 per year. In this role, you will be performing work of moderate difficulty providing assistance to dentists and dental hygienists. Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and support to staff and clients of the Dental Program.
  • Establishes and maintains client files and charts; enters client data into computer systems including revising or updating addresses and telephone numbers; schedules appointments.
  • Ensures that release forms or consent forms have been signed; prepares various forms and worksheets.
  • Sets up clinic rooms with appropriate supplies, including off-site clinics; processes daily reports; monitors on hand supplies and coordinates replenishment as needed.
  • Assists in performance of dental procedures including passing instruments and materials; follows guidelines in handling materials and cleaning surfaces also ensures sterilization of instruments.
  • Obtains health histories from patients by conducting patient interviews and follows-up on client status.
  • Performs duties necessary to close clinics.
  • Maintains required training, licensure, and / or certification.
  • Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
  • Participates in emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures.
  • May assist with determining client eligibility; if bilingual, may assist clients communicate with non-bilingual staff.

Requirements

Experience in an administrative capacity which involved a high degree of public contact, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience as a Dental Health Assistant is preferred, however, not required. Bi-lingual in Spanish also highly preferred but not required.

Dental Insurance : The Delta Dental PPO program allows you to visit any dentist you wish.

Flexible Spending Accounts : Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay expenses such as those not covered by medical or dental insurance, or day-care costs.

Life Insurance : All full-time employees are provided a $25,000 life insurance policy at no cost to the employee. Supplemental coverage is available for the employee, their spouse, and their children.

Disability Insurance : Employees may elect additional accident and critical illness disability benefits.
