Job Summary :
The Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care by dispensing and compounding medications, verifying prescription accuracy, and providing clear patient education on dosage, interactions, and side effects. In addition to maintaining compliance with FDA, DEA, and HIPAA regulations, the Pharmacist supports clinical services such as immunizations and basic health screenings, monitors drug therapies, and promotes a safe and clean work environment. This position also includes operational responsibilities like managing controlled substance records, verifying orders, removing expired medications, and contributing to revenue cycle goals. Essential Functions :
Dispensing drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners.Labeling, packaging, and compounding pharmaceuticals so that all medications are properly dispensed.Checking for order accuracy on medicine type, dosage, and correct packaging / labels on all new and refill orders.Educating patients on correct dosage, including frequency of use, time of day, and any possible food or drug interactions.Following all applicable local, state, and federal health laws (FDA and DEA regulations, HIPAA guidelines).Providing immunizations and other medical services, such as taking blood pressure, temperature measurements, and checking blood sugar levels, as needed.Monitoring customers’ drug therapies, advising interventions, and informing customers of any potential side effects.Ensuring a safe and clean working environment.Completing operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, charges, and removing expired and / or damaged drugs from the pharmacy’s inventory.Performing other administrative tasks when needed.Participating in Hamilton’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include, but are not limited to, achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.Demonstrating commitment to established Workplace Values : Innovation; Integrity; Quality; Accountability; Respect; Commitment and Inclusion. Healthcare Knowledge : A fundamental understanding of healthcare services and basic medical terminology.Tech-Savvy : Proficiency in basic data entry computer skills.Strong Interpersonal Skills : Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Team Player : An industrious and cooperative nature to foster harmonious working relationships with clinic management, physicians, clinicians, and the public.Education :Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Current, clean license to practice in the Commonwealth of PennsylvaniaPreferred Qualifications :
Three (3) years’ experience with the 340B Drug Pricing ProgramExperience in a Federally Qualified Health Center EnvironmentKnowledge of The Joint Commission regulationsBilingual in Spanish, Nepali, French, ArabicAll About Hamilton Health Center
