Protection And Control Engineer

This position is an integral part of the Protection and Controls Department, where the engineer will collaborate with senior-level engineers to complete protection and control projects with minimal direction. The role involves working closely with both in-house and client engineers and designers, while also providing training and guidance to junior engineers.

Responsibilities :

• Work on green-field and brown-field (retrofit) Protection and Controls Projects in substations.
• Set relays and conduct relay setting calculations utilizing ASPEN, AcSELerator 5010 (SEL), and other software.
• Design settings in the appropriate format and communicate with the assigned field Protection and Controls supervisor using IPS.
• Mark-up and review protection schematics and elementaries.
• Utilize MOB to review equipment and materials established by substation engineers for Protection Designers.
• Work with transformers, circuit breakers, buses, reactors, line disconnects, protective relays systems (SEL, ABB, etc.), and SCADA systems.
• Perform all engineering and design activities with minimum direction from higher-level engineers.
• Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete protection and control projects.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
• Initiate corrective action when protection and control project objectives are not being met.
• Work under the supervision of Protection Engineers IV, Senior Engineers, and Principal Engineers.
• Position requires 10-15% travel to field substations.

Work Environment :

The work environment is a quiet engineering office setting, where engineers share an office space with another engineer. The dress code is business casual, and teamwork is highly encouraged and frequently practiced.

Job Type & Location :

This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
