Job Title : Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) / Materials and Process Engineer
Location : Berkeley, MO
Duration : Long Term Contract
Position Overview :
This role defines requirements for materials, parts, tools, and processes used in the engineering, manufacture, and maintenance of products. The engineer will lead the development, validation, and qualification of new materials, parts, processes, and production systems, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. The position promotes standardization, evaluates emerging technologies for potential application, and implements corrective and preventive actions following failure investigations. This is a non-managerial, non-leadership role that operates under minimal supervision.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities :
- Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods-including acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic principles-to develop novel approaches supporting affordability and maintainability objectives.
- Define requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes, and approve their use in design, manufacturing, and maintenance.
- Lead the development of specifications and documentation to manage deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
- Lead development, validation, and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet project requirements.
- Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers according to applicable standards.
- Utilize project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule objectives.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and customer requirements (ASNT, ASTM, AWS, ASME, ISO, etc.).
- Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as a subject matter expert.
- Support the team lead by assisting in strategy definition and providing consultation as needed.
Basic Qualifications (Required) :
5+ years of experience in engineering.Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry from an accredited institution.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Preferred Qualifications (Desired) :
5+ years of hands-on experience in NDE / NDT engineering in a regulated industry (aerospace, defense, energy, etc.).Proficiency with nondestructive evaluation processes (ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, penetrant inspection).Experience working in multi-discipline teams and interacting with technical and non-technical customers.Strong understanding of materials behavior, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.Familiarity with project management tools.Excellent time management skills to handle multiple projects across diverse geographical locations.Active / Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred but not required.
