ASPHALT ROLLER OPERATOR
BRAZOS PAVING, INC., is a fast-growing paving and construction services Company, leading supplier of paving and road construction materials with our commitment to be the best in the area.
We are currently looking for an experienced ASPHALT ROLLER OPERATOR, with at least t wo years' experience as an asphalt roller operator.
Applicants must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments and be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary.
Position Overview
The Asphalt Roller operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt Roller to roll and compact hot mix paving material smoothly and consistently to roads, parking lots, airport runways, and more.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Operates tandem or three-wheeled steel roller to compact subgrades and asphalt.
- Follow proper techniques and methods including timing, pinching joints, stopping angles, proper watering of rolls and wheels, etc.
- Match roller speed to layout speed.
- Exhibits knowledge of compaction of material under changing temperatures.
- Check all fluids at the beginning of the engine startup and continue to monitor gauges and fluid levels throughout the daily operation.
- When the Roller is not in operation, assist paving crew members with whatever tasks are required to complete the project.
- Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage of the Roller at the end of each shift.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
High school education or equivalent combination of education or experience.
