Are you passionate about electrical engineering and eager to gain hands-on experience in a world-class lab environment? As an Electrical Engineering Co-op at GE HealthCare, you'll work alongside engineers and technicians on high-impact projects that support the development of cutting-edge CT scanner technologies.
This 12-month co-op is designed to give you exposure to real-world challenges and prepare you for a future career in electrical engineering or product development. You'll be part of the premium CT hardware engineering team, contributing to solutions that improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance patient care.
As a Co-op, you'll take on project-based assignments with mentorship and training from experienced engineers. You'll gain skills in electrical technician work and contribute to initiatives that support innovation and operational excellence. Looking for a well-rounded Electrical technical student that can execute on a variety of tasks on this super-awesome fun-tastic team.
Key Responsibilities
You'll work on a variety of hands-on tasks, including :
Soldering, assembling prototypes, and building test fixtures
Setting up and running data acquisition equipment for testing
Using electrical test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers, etc.) to evaluate new designs
Documenting test results and troubleshooting electrical systems
Prototyping, reworking, and designing circuits to improve CT scanner performance
Conducting experiments and diagnostic tests to support root cause analysis
Evaluating software and hardware and implementing improvements
Communicating technical findings to improve system performance and reliability
Supporting the development of engineering, manufacturing, and service documentation
Complying with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and quality policies
Qualifications
We're looking for students who are ready to learn, lead, and make a difference. You are :
Currently enrolled full-time in a technical diploma or degree program (pursuing Associate's or Bachelor's) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Available to work a minimum of 20 hours / week during spring / fall semesters or 40 hours / week during summer
Able to work onsite at our Waukesha, WI facility
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (we do not sponsor employment visas for this role)
Preferred Qualifications
You may stand out if you have :
Experience in mechanical or electrical trades
Familiarity with Cadence or other ECAD software
Basic understanding of a programming language such as Matlab
Familiarity with digital electronics, switches and flux capacitors
Strong communication skills and ability to simplify technical concepts
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven leadership and initiative in academic or extracurricular settings
Passion for technology and continuous learning
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
