$2,290 per week

About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : Nursing

Specialty : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience required.

License : Active nursing license required.

Certifications : PALS and BLS required; TNCC certification appreciated but not required.

Must-Have :

  • Previous charge experience preferred.
  • Patient ratio experience of 2-3.
  • Charting system experience preferred, Cerner is beneficial.

Description :

The position involves working in a general Pediatric ICU setting.

Responsibilities include the administration of blood and blood products, management of antiarrhythmics, and arterial line management.

The nurse will assist in or manage intubation, provide BiPAP / CPAP care, and care for ventilated patients.

Central line blood draws and care for central lines or implanted lines are essential duties.

Infection control and PPE adherence are critical.

Insulin administration and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) will be required.

Nurses manage dysrhythmias and administer IV insulin pumps and IV vasopressors.

Pediatric dosage calculations and phlebotomy skills are essential.

PICC line management is part of the nurse's responsibilities.

Suctioning for ETT and NT and telemetry monitoring are also required tasks.

Tracheostomy care and ventilator management will be performed as necessary.

Patient demographics include adolescents, infants, and pediatrics.

The unit has a total of 13 beds, accommodating up to 16 patients when needed.

Common patient diagnoses include respiratory illness, sepsis, post-operative care, hematology oncology, and renal transplant.

Interdisciplinary support is available from various health professionals including IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy among others.

This role includes working during holidays, including Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Floating between units may be required, including as a patient observer.

All necessary certifications must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
