Robert Half is currently working with a thriving services firm on their search for a Staff Accountant with strong Excel skills. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the general ledger, assisting with the month-end close process, preparing internal / external financial reporting, posting journal entries, supporting revenue recognition processes, preparing supporting schedules for internal management reporting and external audits, ensuring compliance with industry specific taxes and applicable fees, and assisting with accounts payable and receivable functions. The ideal candidate for this role should have great problem-solving skills, excellent time management and strong budgeting / forecasting abilities that will ensure revenue generation.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Manage sales tax filings and ensure timely submissions.
• Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain and update the general ledger, guaranteeing precise documentation of all transactions.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and statements for internal and external use.
• Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
• Support audits by gathering and organizing relevant financial documentation.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and implement necessary adjustments in processes.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve accounting procedures and efficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience with corporate tax preparation and compliance.
• Proficiency in managing sales tax filings and related processes.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
• Familiarity with accounting software and tools.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Understanding of relevant tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
