Job description

Payroll And Benefits Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll And Benefits Specialist to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a multi-state workforce, as well as administering employee benefits. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of payroll practices, compliance requirements, benefits administration, and hands-on Paylocity expertise.

Responsibilities :

  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly, salaried, commission, and bonus payments across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, while serving as a point of contact for employee benefit questions.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefit elections.
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and process off-cycle or bonus / commission payments as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, summaries, and reconciliations for internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and audit benefit invoices, contributions, and deductions to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with open enrollment, benefits communications, and vendor management.
  • Support compliance requirements, including tax filings, garnishments, audits, prevailing wage reporting, and certified payroll documentation.
  • Provide exceptional service to employees regarding payroll and benefits inquiries, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications :

  • 3+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Paylocity experience required.
  • Experience in prevailing wage and certified payroll required.
  • Solid understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and benefit administration best practices.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll / HRIS systems.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) a plus.
