Job Overview / Summary :
The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for ensuring patient meal accuracy, satisfaction, and compliance with prescribed diets. This position serves as a vital link between patients, the clinical nutrition team, and the food service department, ensuring a positive and efficient dining experience.
Responsibilities :
Visit patients daily to confirm menu selections and diet-related needs, communicating any special requirements to clinical staff.
Complete patient tray processes, including menu selections, tray assembly, delivery, pickup, and special requests.
Transport ReTherm or room service carts between the Food & Nutrition department, patient rooms, and hospital areas.
Collaborate with team members and nursing staff to ensure seamless customer service and support patient satisfaction initiatives.
Ensure Patient Satisfaction goals for the department are achieved.
Process patient information accurately and communicate effectively with the diet office.
Promote courteous, confidential, and responsive service to all patients, addressing requests promptly.
Conduct Hospitality Rounds after each meal to ensure patient needs are met.
Inventory, gather, and deliver floor stock to units as assigned by facility guidelines.
Primary Skills :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in diet management.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Customer service orientation with a patient-centered approach.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have) :
Familiarity with hospital food service systems and patient diet requirements.
Basic computer or menu management software knowledge.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting and / or 1 year in food service preferred.
