About the Role :
As a Safety Officer at Flasher Equipment Co., you’ll play a critical role in protecting our people, our equipment, and the traveling public. This position is hands-on and highly visible — you’ll be out in the field, on job sites, and in our facilities, ensuring that every task meets the highest safety and compliance standards.
You’ll lead by example, developing and implementing programs that align with TxDOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations while building a culture of accountability and awareness. From conducting jobsite audits and leading safety trainings to managing incident investigations and fleet compliance, you’ll help shape the systems that keep our teams safe and our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities :
Program Development & Compliance
Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in alignment with TxDOT specifications, OSHA, and DOT / FMCSA requirements.Conduct regular audits of job sites, fabrication facilities, and fleet operations for compliance and hazard identification.Maintain the company’s Safety Manual, Fleet Safety Policy, and Emergency Action Plan; update as regulations change.Training & Education
Lead new hire safety orientations and ongoing employee training (confined space, fall protection, PPE, work zone safety, heavy equipment handling).Provide toolbox talks, quarterly safety stand-downs, and specialized certifications (e.g., flagger training, first aid / CPR).Coach supervisors and crew leads on proactive safety leadership.Incident & Risk Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and injuries; complete root cause analysis and corrective action reports.Manage incident reporting to OSHA, TxDOT, and insurance providers.Track leading and lagging safety metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART rates, preventable accidents).Recommend improvements to reduce risks, including robotics / automation initiatives that minimize worker exposure.Fleet & Equipment Oversight
Overseeing Telemetrics (Samsara) for trucks / equipment.Oversee compliance with DOT / FMCSA regulations, including DVIR, driver qualification files, drug / alcohol testing, and hours-of-service logs.Support Fleet Maintenance in ensuring vehicles and equipment are inspected, serviced, and safe for operation.Audit load securement (chains, straps, binders) and equipment transport practices.Conduct Smith Training for all drivers.Emergency Preparedness & Response.Maintain and test emergency action procedures (weather events, roadway incidents, facility evacuation).Serve as company liaison for local, state, and federal safety regulators.Coordinate response protocols in collaboration with operations managers and field supervisors.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).Minimum 3–5 years of safety experience in construction, traffic control, utilities, or heavy equipment industries.Knowledge of OSHA, TxDOT, MUTCD, FMCSA / DOT, and ANSI safety standards.Safety certifications preferred : OSHA 30, CPR / First Aid, CSP, CHST, or equivalent.Strong communication and training skills; bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.Ability to travel statewide to job sites and facilities.Compensation :
The salary range for this position is $$70,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience, credentials, qualifications, and alignment with the company’s needs. This role is also eligible for a robust company benefit offering.
